The shipibo women sometimes devote their artwork to a specific plant. These plants are often "diated" which means that the person who is diating follows specific guidelines in eating and lifestyle in exchange for his soul being connected to the plant spirit.
 
Although the Shipibo women state that the fabrics are machine washable, it is advised to select gentle programs or wash it by hand.
